Ingredients Needed for a Blueberry Smoothie Bowl
Non-Dairy Milk: Some type of non-dairy milk is needed for making this smoothie bowl, the kind you choose does not matter much, it’s more of a preference.
For me, it usually depends on who I’m making it for, as each one of my kids prefers a different type of non-dairy milk; one prefers soy, one prefers almond, and the other prefers oat milk. If you’re looking for a super creamy, full fat smoothie bowl, I’d recommend canned coconut milk, just don’t store it in the fridge before using.
Frozen Blueberries: They need to be frozen, whether bought frozen or you freeze them yourself, it does not matter.
Frozen Banana: It’s best to slice the banana before freezing, it’ll freeze faster, more evenly, and it’ll be easier to blend. And yes, the banana needs to be frozen or you won’t get the right consistency for the smoothie bowl base.
Toppings: Use whichever toppings you prefer. We prefer sliced banana, fresh blueberries, this almond vanilla granola, and my middle child LOVES to add coconut flakes or shreds.
How to Make a Blueberry Smoothie Bowl
Step one: Blend the smoothie ingredients for about 60 seconds or until smooth and pour into a bowl.
Step two: Assemble toppings on top of the smoothie bowl and enjoy!
That’s it! It really is that simple. Just be sure to use your blender’s tamper if needed, making the smoothie bowl base can take a bit of patience and using the tamper to manually move around the ingredients inside of the blender to get them to blend.
How to Serve Smoothie Bowls
Serve with any and all desired toppings, such as:
- Sliced bananas
- Sliced strawberries
- Blueberries
- Coconut Flakes
- Simple Granola
- And more!
Enjoy cold and ASAP, or at least before it melts!
How to Store Smoothie Bowls
Smoothie bowls are best enjoyed as soon as they’re made. Storing a smoothie bowl will result in a different consistency that will be difficult, if not impossible, to regain.
If you know you will not finish it, feel free to halve the ingredients to make a smaller one, OR you can turn an un-topped smoothie bowl into a popsicle by pouring it into a popsicle mold and freezing it.
