Halloween Banana Ghosts
Your kids are going to have so much fun making these Halloween Banana Ghosts!
My kids had a blast making these, and eating these. They’re so simple to make your kids probably won’t even need help (so you get a little break!).

This is also a great Halloween craft snack for toddlers, as it’ll help them with fine motor skills of cutting (with a butter knife!) and placing chocolate chips on the bananas as eyes and mouths.
Not to mention that it’s so much better for them to eat bananas and a couple of chocolate chips, then all of the sugar laden treats that comes with trick-or-treating on Halloween.
This is one of the perfect Halloween treats for kids that I have available for you on this website. You may also want to look at these cutie little clementine pumpkins and silly apple monsters. Both of which are 100% whole food plant-based!
Ingredients
Bananas: Bananas are vital for this recipe, they are the ‘ghost’. All you have to do is peel them and they’re ready to go!
Be sure your bananas are not green or brown. If they’re a little spotted that’s alright, but we’re looking for yellow bananas for this recipe.
Dairy-free Chocolate Chips: This is a vegan website, so I’m recommending dairy-free (can also be called ‘allergy friendly’) chocolate chips here. The brand I always love to use is Enjoy Life, but you can find other brands have vegan-friendly chocolate chips too.
If you’re not vegan, then use what you have or the type of chocolate chips you always get.
Substitutes for chocolate chips:
- Raisins
- Dried cranberries
- Nuts
- Seeds
- A dab of peanut butter or almond butter
- Anything you already have on hand.
This could be one of those last minute Halloween snacks, in case you haven’t been able to buy or refuse to buy expensive or special or sugar laden snacks for your kids. So use what you have!
How to Make Halloween Banana Ghosts
*Note that these instructions can be printed below
Step one: Peel the banana.
Step two: Cut the banana in half.
Step three: Place three chocolate chips on the top of the banana where two eyes and a mouth would look good. Silliness is encouraged!
(Optional) Step four: Add a popsicle stick in the bottom of the banana ghost.
OR, Make a Banana Mummy for Halloween Instead!
Make another banana Halloween treat by making a banana mummy instead!
It’s just as simple as a banana ghost, but might be a bit messier, so it’s more fun for kids!
You still need to peel and cut the bananas in half.
It’s still recommended to add 2 small chocolate chips as eyes.
But, instead of adding a ‘mouth’ you will drizzle melted peanut butter, almond butter, sun butter, or other nut/seed butter over the bananas to make the ‘wraps’.
Or, if you wanted to make the ‘wraps’ for the mummy white, you could use melted white chocolate (Enjoy Life has a vegan/allergy friendly version of white chocolate chips).
How to Serve
Serve these cute Halloween treats ASAP.
Unfortunately, these snacks don’t stay good for long after the bananas are peeled.
So make them, take some photos, and then enjoy you banana Halloween treat!
