If you’re in need of naturally red food recipes (or pink), then you’ll be able to find some below, and not just snacks, there’s meals down below as well!
When you think about read foods there’s probably a list of individual foods, or fruits & veggies that come to mind, such as:

Tomatoes
Red Bell Peppers
Pomegranate
Cherries
Strawberries
Watermelon
Red apples
Cranberries
Raspberries
And more!
Or maybe you start to think about all of the foods that start with red but are in actuality a different color entirely, like:
Red cabbage
Red onion
Red grapes
Which are all actually purple in color. And sure, red onions turn pink when pickled, but grapes don’t really change color, and red cabbage when boiled turns blue…
So, let me share some of my favorite naturally red (and pink) foods.
Use these for Valentines day, Christmas, when teaching kids about colors, for themed food nights, or to simply enjoy!
Lazy chili is very red, and very easy to make. I created this recipe primarily because I have a few picky eaters and I asked them how to make my ‘regular’ vegan chili better, and they said to remove everything from it except for the beans, tomato sauce, and spices. So, let’s just say this recipe is kid-friendly, picky eater friendly, and only takes like 5 minutes to make. If you’re looking for a quick meal (or dip for tortilla chips) then this would be a great choice.
Looking for more of a full meal, maybe more so for grown ups or non-picky eaters. Then this red food recipe is perfect. It’ll impress guests (shh…it’s accidentally vegan and super healthy for you as it’s mostly solely of plants, and just a little oil).

A little bit lighter than red, this watermelon slushie is a bit pink, but it’s nice, light, refreshing, and again, super quick to make and enjoy as a party food, or while enjoying warmer weather!
These strawberry waffles have bits and pieces of strawberries in them, a red food, so I’m going to say this counts as red. Making it with the strawberry syrup below would be perfect for a red/pink Valentines day breakfast, or any breakfast really.
Another strawberry recipe, yes it’s a little diluted from red, but it goes great with pancakes and waffles. Even if you make the waffles or pancakes plain, add this to spruce it up!
Another more pinkish, ok very pink, recipe, but again, it’s made with strawberries, so it counts as a red food. It’s 100% made from plants and would be a great treat for you and your kids. The worst part about it is that it has to freeze before enjoying it.
If you’re craving a creamy strawberry dessert and don’t want to wait, then this pink strawberry cheesecake smoothie that only takes a few minutes to make would be a delicious choice!
Tips for Making Naturally Red Food Recipes (or pink)
Making red (or pink) recipes, or finding them, isn’t all that hard!
Simply choose from the ones above OR use the list of red foods above and search for recipes that include those foods. Then make a judgment call on whether or not the recipe is ‘red’ enough for you.
I hope you enjoy the recipes, and if you have any favorite red recipes, please leave a comment so we can all have more ideas!
